In an exciting development for harness racing enthusiasts, Racing WA has unveiled the Feature Race Calendar for July to December 2025. The calendar showcases significant improvements set to enhance the Spring and Summer Carnival hosted at Gloucester Park. These alterations aim to elevate the standard of harness racing in WA by streamlining race organization, increasing visibility, and drawing a larger national wagering audience.
One of the key highlights of the upcoming season is the Westbred 4YO Finals scheduled for the renowned W Night on September 5. Building on the success of the previous year’s event, this edition promises to be grander and more captivating. The introduction of the Westbred 4YO Mares and Colts/Geldings $100,000 Finals on this night underscores the commitment to recognizing and rewarding local breeding talent. It is a strategic move to create a prominent racing evening that not only celebrates local achievements but also bolsters the breeding industry in WA.
In a significant shift, the prestigious Group 1 Tabtouch $450,000 WA Pacing Cup has been rescheduled to December 12, 2025, marking the climax of the Spring and Summer Carnival. This alteration was prompted by the relocation of the Inter Dominion to July, providing an ideal opportunity to position the WA Pacing Cup in the prime mid-December slot. By doing so, the event is expected to garner national attention as the pinnacle of the racing extravaganza. Aligning this premier Grand Circuit race with the WA Pinnacles Carnival enables the utilization of charter flights to attract top-tier standardbred talent from the Eastern States.
Moreover, the rescheduling of race dates within the 12-week carnival period aims to enhance the flow of Group 1 races, particularly benefiting four-year-olds. The traditional scheduling of the four-year-old classics at the commencement of the carnival has been reinstated, allowing standout four-year-olds to focus on competing in the prestigious WA Pacing Cup.
The restructured calendar not only sets the stage for thrilling harness racing action but also underscores the commitment of Racing WA to continuously improve and innovate the sport. With these dynamic changes, harness racing enthusiasts can look forward to a season filled with top-tier competition, showcasing the finest talent in the industry.
